The Chesterton Fire Department is a combination career and volunteer department. We staff one engine company with 4 firefighters 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We cover the town of Chesterton, unincorporated Westchester township. We service about 15,000 people.

Helpful reminders for the cold winter season...
Do NOT use alternative heating sources such as ovens, and stoves.
Keep all chimney flues and vents clean and clear.
Watch for water pipes that might freeze.
As always check and change Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Batteries!

In snowy and icy road conditions drive carefully and leave larger stopping distances.

The mission of the Chesterton Fire Department is to provide the highest quality fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, and public education services to the residents of Chesterton with the resources available to the department.
